AUGUST WAS…
a culmination of work and a hiatus
MESSY HUMAN THING
This year I wanted to play around with my words and create something new. I was sick of plonking myself in front of a screen and waiting for words to arrive. Sometimes, they did. More often than not, they didn’t.
So, I decided to add some movement to the mix. Everything I wrote for this 25 minute work in progress was made whilst dancing, walking and pacing around. It has been one of my favourite things I’ve made, and taking it in front of a live audience has really made me want to progress with it. I want to turn it into a full 45 minute show with more props, music and audience interaction. So, that’s the plan.
I’m letting it breathe for now; Summer is a lot and there is uniform to buy, winter coats to source and life admin to attend to. Once the dust of the new school year has settles, I’ll pick it back up again and see where I am with it all.
Finishing a piece of work always leaves me a little depleted and I’ve learned over the years to give things the space they need. I deleted Instagram for the rest of August and headed on holiday with the family.
Much as I hate to rush a seasons’ ending, I am VERY much ready for Autumn.
