a hiatus

Making things with my hands when thinking didn’t help. The wheels came off for our family and scattered in many directions. Sometimes the only thing to do is paint a wall or cook.

New show testing!

My friend Miranda and I have been wanting to put a show together for aaaaages. This month, we got to bring it life for the first time. Introducing ‘Warped’- a sci-fi musical about weavers. What’s not to love?

We were awarded a grant by The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster to put together and show our first 15 minutes. We spent some very pleasant days in rehearsal spaces messing around with copper pipes, work song harmonies and dancing.

Next steps- Arts Council Application for us to build a full creative team and develop the show.

18 days of small creative acts

I created a small challenge for myself over on my Substack and invited others to join in. 18 days of small creative acts. Sometimes this looked like writing and finishing a full poem. Sometimes this looked like messing around with images with some music on. I found the public accountability incredibly helpful. You can read the full series here

finalising my first fringe show!

This has truly been one of my favourite things to work on. Messy Human Thing is my first foray into the world of fringe and I am absolutely hooked. I’ve been attending workshops at The Playhouse in Morecambe with some other first timers and seeing everyone’s creations come to life has been an absolute delight. I can’t wait to get it out there and hone it, as you can only really do in front of a live audience.
